NEWCOMER WELCOME PROGRAM

Swing Fling is all about West Coast Swing! Fun dance contests for amateurs, dozens of daytime workshops for all levels, amazing professional performances and four “dance ’til dawn” all night parties – it’s a fantastic, friendly dance vacation August 8-11, 2024 in Dulles, VA!

Swing Fling offers a special welcome program just for first time attendees, to introduce you to new friends, answer your questions, and support you and your dancing as you join the fun of a weekend west coast swing event. The Newcomer Welcome Program includes tailored workshops and a social track with specialized attention to your needs at your very first convention weekend with us. Swing Fling is a huge party where everyone is welcome! 

Here’s what you should do for your first time at Swing Fling:

Reserve a hotel room at the Hyatt Regency.

RESERVATIONS

Register for a weekend “EZpass,” and enroll yourself in the “Newcomer Welcome Program. Consider adding a contest if that seems fun! “Jack & Jill Newcomer” or “ProAm Jack & Jill Newcomer/Novice” are popular choices for first-timers. If you are over 50, “Jack & Jill Masters” is an additional option for you. You don’t need a partner to enter Jack & Jill Divisions

Our Newcomer Welcome Program is designed to give you what you need to have fun & feel connected on your first time with us. We include:

  • “NWP Orientation” Thursday at 8 -or- Friday at 6.

  • “Social Dance Success” with Kay, Friday at 8.

  • Your choice of classes throughout the weekend. 

  • Small group dancing with Newcomers & friends Thursday 9pm -and- Friday 9pm 

  • Entry into the popular main ballroom for ALL contests and pro shows 

  • Four nights of all-night social dancing in the main ballroom

  • “Newcomer” seating area in the main ballroom for all shows & social dancing.

  • A welcoming team of experienced mentors ready to meet you, dance with you, and answer your questions all weekend long

  • “NWP Wrap-up” with Kay Sunday at 3

  • A cohort of other friendly event first-timers who can’t wait to meet you and have fun all weekend together!
