In 2011 Swing Fling celebrates it's 20th anniversary. It all began in 1991 under the direction of Barry Durand and Dawn (Blorstad) Garrish. Swing Fling is the DC area's oldest and longest running West Coast Swing dance weekend. It's always been primarily a West Coast Swing weekend but over the years has also featured Shag, Hand Dance, Lindy Hop, Hustle and Salsa. It continues as an original World Swing Dance Council (WSDC) member and was a founding member of the National Association of Swing Dance Events (NASDE). 2011 promises lots of big and exciting changes. The entire operation is now under direction of Dave Moldover's Dance Jam Productions. It will be held at the Dulles Hyatt in their brand new convention facilities. The schedule and format will be similar to that of the wildly popular MADjam weekend also produced by this team. We are currently in the process of collecting archival photos and video from Swing Fling's early years to preserve some of it's legacy.
